James died circa 1952 under mysterious circumstances...he was found dead in either the Chicago River or Little Calumet River in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA. Both rivers have been named by various family members but my great grandmother told it was the Chicago River. He was given a pauper's burial. His half brother William went there to put a headstone on his grave but the location of his grave was unmarked.

James was born in Walnut Ridge, Lawrence County, Arkansas, USA on 1 Sep 1910 to Gideon Thomas Hennessee and Myrtle Vera Ralston. I am currently unable to locate the family in the 1920 census and as of the 1930 census , Myrtle and Gideon Thomas had divorced and James, Myrtle, brother Joseph Hennessee and half brother Paul Herrington/Harrington had moved to Marion, Marion County, Ohio, USA. On 23 Dec 1930 in Marion, Ohio, James married Helen Marie Hacker. They had 8 children (though DNA now indicates at least one may not have been his) before divorcing in 1946. Nothing else is known about James after this other than he went to Chicago and was homeless for an unknown amount of time and then his mysterious death sometime around 1952 or so. No death record has been found so exact death date is unknown. He was my Great Grandfather - Stefani K. Hennessee Saleem
