Virginia was born on January 8, 1937 to Dale & Jacquetta in Phillipsburg, KS. Attended Red Top School & graduated Phillipsburg High (1955). She went onto obtain a Bachelor of Science at Fort Hays Kansas State University (1960) and later conferred a Masters in Arts from Eastern New Mexico University (1980) with studies in English & Shakespearian literature. She taught at Yucca Jr. High with subjects in English grammar, creative writing, and ESL for 25 years and retired from Clovis Public Schools, Clovis, NM. She was an avid reader, an accomplished pianist & bells player, oil painter, student of New Mexico & civil war history, and remained a competitive bridge player throughout her life. She actively volunteered and held positions in several organizations including: Friends of the Clovis-Carver Public Library; Order of the Eastern Star; Clovis Junior Woman’s Club; and Citizenship Chairman of the N.M. Federation of Women’s Clubs; and served as Booster President of the Clovis Wildcat Marching Band. A strong believer in faith, she attended Kingswood Methodist, Clovis NM, and Hope Methodist, Whitehouse, OH.
Virginia was a loving mother, close friend to many, and shared kind words and her beautiful smile with grace. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Karan, and husbands Robert Harrison, and Larry Simmons.
A remembrance celebration with her family will be held in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Services were entrusted to the Peinert Dunn Funeral Home in Whitehouse, Ohio.
