Theo Bloess came to America from Germany in the year of 1852 on the Ship Uhland. He first settled in Florence, Morgan County, Missouri. September 4th, 1853 he married Maria Latsch in Morgan, County, Missouri. After serving as a Union Captain during the Civil War, of a mostly German Company, near Sedalia, Missouri, he then moved to St. Louis was a Lumber Dealer and owner of THEO BLOESS LUMBER CO. in St. Louis, Missouri for many years. After his wife died in Germany while they were visiting there, he decided to stay. He, like his wife died in Wiesbaden and was buried there according to his great granddaughter.
