Robert was born in the Mount Pleasant Precinct, Nebraska, to Carl and Ora Sell.

Robert retired from Ash Grove Cement Company after 40 years of service.

He is past president of the Plattsmouth Eagles Club and past president of the Louisville Rod and Gun Club. After retirement, he and Bev liked to travel. They spent over four years in Naples, Florida.
