A native of Halifax County, she had been a Peninsula resident for 51 years.
She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and a member of the Homemakers Demonstration Club. She was a bookkeeper for Noland Co. and retired in 1975 after 19 years of service.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette C. Church, and her husband, G. Randolph of York County, and Jane C. Leffel, and her husband, Marvin L. Sr. of Hampton; a brother, William S. Blanks of Quinton, Va.; seven grandchildren, Michael R. Church of Coral Springs, Fla., Mark A. Church, and his wife, Lisa, of Hampton; Dale C. Church of York County; Ryan R. Leffel of Fort Worth, Texas; Robert R. Leffel of Pensacola, Fla.; Debra McDaniel and Lennie Leffel, both of Newport News; two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ransom L. Cecil Jr.
The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 10, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, at 10:30 a.m. in Temple Baptist Church, with Dr. J. Walter Martin officiating. Burial will be in Peninsula memorial Park.
