U.S. Congressman. After graduating from Whitesboro High School, he graduated from Reed College Oregon, in 1976, returned to New York and established Hanna Construction, business. Gaining an interest in politics, he became a member of the several Republican committees and was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the One Hundred Eleventh Congress, in 2008. In 2011, he was elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Twelfth Congress and to the next two succeeding Congresses, serving until 2017. While in office, he became the second Republican member of Congress to support same sex marriages and the only Republican Congressman to vote against proposed legislation to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy except for victims of sex crimes. Due to family responsibilities, he did not seek reelection. Cause of death cancer at as 69.
