Debra M. Snyder, 64, of Sumner, died, Monday, March 16, 2020, at Unity Point/Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and directions of the Center for Disease Control and Governor Kim Reynolds, services for Deb will postponed for a minimum of two weeks.
Service times will be made available as soon as we are able to provide them. Thank you.
Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.

Debra Mary Powell was born January 14, 1956, to Joyce Meighan Powell and Russel Powell in West Union. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Catherine and Leonard Meighan, in Sumner. She was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner.
Deb received her early education in the rural Sumner Schools prior to graduating from Sumner High School in 1974.

After graduation, she worked at Atwood, Meinerz Creamery, and Rockwell Collins.

She was united in marriage with Michael J. Snyder on June 28, 1985. Deb became a member of St. John Lutheran Church following her marriage.

She enjoyed painting, embroidery, cake decorating, her flowers, the Green Bay Packers, but most especially time with and nurturing her grandchildren.

Deb is survived by her husband, Mike of Sumner; two daughters, Sam (Jake Tillman) Snyder of St. Paul, Minnesota and Kassi Snyder of Sumner; adopted grandchildren, Jaci Marie and Catherine “Cate” Lena; grandchildren, Addie Joy, Gracie, Dawson, and Jaxson Ganske; siblings, Mary Stanfield, Kathleen (Tom) Larkin, Susan Howard, Betty (Ed) Young, David (Betty) Meighan, Kevin (Ellie) Schwarm, William Farina, Connie Andrade, Pat Langreck, and Dorri Meighan; mother-in-law, Carol Snyder; brothers-in-law, Patrick (Barb) Snyder and Terry Beaman; and sister-in-law, Terri (Jesse Battan) Snyder.

She will be joining her mother, Joyce Farina along with other family members, Richard Meighan, Margaret Long, Tom and Grace Meighan, Glenda Meighan, Carl Stanfield, Patricia Beaman, Leonard and Catherine Meighan, Therese Reisdorf Snyder and Harold Snyder who have preceded her in death.

Mass will be held for the family at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Sumner. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020, at the American Legion in Sumner from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.
