MESSER, Jeff N., Jr. 78, of Springfield, Ohio and formerly of Bailey Switch, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord, Thursday afternoon, November 2, 2006 in Heartland of Springfield. He was born in Kettle Island, Kentucky on January 26, 1928 the son of the late Jeff N. and Ellen (Gray) Messer Sr.
Jeff retired from Robbins & Myers and was a World War II United States Army veteran. He was a member of First Pentecostal Church of God.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Daniel James of Springfield; three sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Darlene Messer of Springfield and Calvin Messer and Randall Messer, both of Texas; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters, Lucy Turner, Julie Taylor, Kathleen Messer, and Carrie Boyd; two brothers, Johnnie and Howard Messer; two aunts, Sarah (Gray) Owens and Lydia Messer; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel (Miracle) Messer; two sisters, Edith Hollis and Naomi Pickard; and four brothers, Bill, Lee, Tommy, and Lloyd Messer.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home with Brothers Buck McIntosh and Earl Rowland officiating.
Additional services will be held in Barbourville, Kentucky.
Burial will be in Tuggle Doolin Cemetery, Heiderick, Kentucky.
