Born July 13, 1944 in Austin, Texas, he was the son of the Late Beth Boyce Bohls and the late Lydia Lindig Ken. Mr. Bohls was a US Navy veteran where he also served proudly as a navigator for the nuclear submarine, the USS Andrew Jackson (SSBN-619). He was also a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in accounting. He was a Certified Public Accountant and a retired QA Analyst with AT&T. Mr. Bohls was also a pilot that enjoyed flying and playing with his grandchildren. Mr. Bohls was also a HAM radio operator and had been an active member of that community.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Louise Syfrett Bohls of the home; son, Thomas Bohls of Greensboro; daughter, Penny Bohls of High Point; brother, Jack Bohls of Texas; grandchildren, Blake Bohls and Alex Seebeck. John also had numerous nieces and nephews in Texas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathleen and Caroline.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 21, 2020, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Greensboro with Rev. John Fair officiating.
Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
All are invited to a fellowship lunch that will follow the service at the church.
