Mr. Cox honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. On July 7, 1960 in Mansfield, Ohio, Johnny was united in marriage to Ms. Angie Martha Pileggi. Mrs. Cox preceded John in death on June 26, 2008 after forty-seven years of marriage. Mr. Cox spent over twenty-five years employed with S &S Manufacturing as a Machinist and Foreman.
Mr. Cox had resided in Harrison since 1980, moving from Carlton, Michigan. John was a faithful member of Leota Community Church, Harrison. John was devoted to reading his Bible, sharing the word of God and becoming a Pastor. He was a longtime member of Harrison Moose Lodge and Family Center #2235. Mr. Cox enjoyed fishing, yardwork, playing on his computer, flying airplanes and helping those in need.
Surviving Johnny are his two children; Joe Cox and wife Kim of Harrison and Patty Root and husband Ota also of Harrison, three grandchildren; Judy Cox of Sanford, Michigan, Deatta Root-Pyle of Harrison and Jessica Cox also of Harrison, one great-grandson, Mason Chancy Root-Pyle of Harrison, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mr. Cox also was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved dog, Bella and four brothers; Don Cox, Harold Cox, Woody Cox and Bill Cox.
Memorial services honoring the life of Johnny E. Cox will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020 with Pastor Jerry Britton officiating at Leota Community Church, Harrison, Michigan. Inurnment will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison.
