Sarah Herndon Watkins Thompson, wife of Robert Thompson and mother of Parmelia Thompson Bibb, First Lady of Alabama and wife of the state's second governor.
She was the daughter of James B. Watkins (1728-1708) and Martha (Thompson) Watkins (1737-1803).
She was a sister of James Thompson (1758-1824) who married Jane Thompson and were grandparents of Mary Frances (Watkins) Saunders, the wife of Col. James Edmonds Saunders, the author of "Early Settlers of Alabama," which contains much of their family history.
She was a granddaughter of William Watkins (1690-1784) and Martha Nancy (Herndon) Watkins (1710-1766), Robert David Thompson (1713-1787) and **.
Great-granddaughter of Edward Herndon (1678-1758) and Mary Elizabeth (Waller) Herndon (1674-1727), Robert S. Thompson (1687-1777) and Jane (Farley) Thompson (1687-1774).
Her husband Robert Thompson was her mother's first cousin and was said to have died at Belle Mina, the plantation home of their daughter Mrs. Bibb.
Interment unverified; no grave markers found.

Her second cousin Mary (Herndon) Roberts, wife of Thomas Roberts, was the mother of Dr. Willis Roberts (1779-1853) who was the personal secretary of Gov. William Wyatt Bibb, first governor of Alabama and brother of the second governor Thomas Bibb who married her daughter Parthena Watkins Thompson.
