Graveside services for Matthew Porter, 90, of Many, LA, will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Fort Jesup Cemetery with Bro. Winston Hodge officiating. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at 5:00 PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Many, LA.

Matthew Porter was born on Tuesday, January 7, 1930 in Plant City, FL. He passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at VA Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Hodge Porter; parents, Ivy Porter and Sarah (Grice) Porter; brother, James Porter; and sister, Frances Lewis.

Mr. Porter served in the Army for twenty-three years. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. Receiving many medals through out his military career including the Purple Heart. Mr. Porter retired as a Sergeant First Class. He served many years as a Mason in the Masonic Lodge in Noble, LA.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Shipp of Natchitoches, LA; grandchildren, Quinton Shipp (Tara) of Hagewood, LA and Garrett Shipp of Natchitoches, LA; brother, Daniel Porter of Jacksonville, FL; brother-in-law, Vernon Hodge (Rhonda) of McKinney, TX; he was the surrogate father to Christopher Hodge and wife Desiree and Jessica Hodge Fisher (Brandon); along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers: Quinton Shipp, Garrett Shipp, Jared Terrell, Chris Peveto, Travis Miller and Todd Miller.
