Judith Ann "Judi" Booth Knight passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family in Webster, New York on Monday March 16, 2020.

Judi was born the 12th child and youngest of 7 daughters and 6 sons born to William N. and Gladys E. Davis Booth on February 21, 1941 in Camp Point, Illinois.

Judi attended grade school in Camp Point and graduated from Central High School in 1959. While attending college at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL she married William F. Knight on December 23, 1961 at the Methodist Church in Camp Point. Both continued their education after the wedding with Judi graduating from SIU with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1964. She later recieved her Masters of Science degree from Buffalo State University in 1974. She also recieved a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) from State University of New York Brockport in 1981.

Judi began her teaching career in Illinois and later taught in Buffalo, NY. The majority of her career was devoted as an elementary school physical education teacher and coach in the Rochester, NY City School District while also serving for 18 years at Edison Tech as Athletic Director. Judi was a leader and strong advocate in the Rochester area and Section V in the State of New York in promoting athletics and equality for girls athletics. She not only supported girls in the classroom and on the court in the field of athletics, she also often opened her home to underprivileged and students in need of support and encouragement. She served as the very first female President of Section V Athletics in the State of New York and was recognized for her pioneering leadership. She received numerous awards, including: RCAC Friends of Athletics Award (2003), CWZ COA Leadership and RCAC Teacher of the Year (1988) NIAA State Award of Merit (1995) and the NYSAA Apple Award (2000). Judi was inducted into the State of New York Section V Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007, the Frontier Field Walk of Fame in 2012, the New York State Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2016 and a Charter Member in the State of New York Section V Executive Hall of Fame in 2017.

Judi was preceded in death by her parents, William N. and Gladys E. Davis Booth, her older brothers, William S. Booth, Ben Booth and Wil Booth as well as her younger brother Herb Booth. She was also preceded in death by her older sisters, Georgia Booth Curry, Ellen Jean Booth Myers and Charlotte Booth Brace-Sjaastad.

Judi is survived by her husband of 58 years William F. Knight, the pride and joy of her life; her 3 awesome sons: Hugh Knight (Wendy), Matt Knight (Julie) of Webster and John Knight (Tramanh) of Rochester, NY. Judi is also survived by her 6 talented, free-spirited and creative grandchildren: Ivy (Alexander) Kralles, Willow Knight, Zane Knight, Griffin Knight, Samantha Knight and Colin Knight, all of Webster, NY. She is also survived by older siblings: Joan Booth of Camp Point, IL, Chris Booth (Virginia) of Farmington Hills, MI, Betty Booth Pitts of Plainfield, IL, Jerry Booth (Patty) of Camp Point, IL and Polly Booth Jacobs of Galesburg, IL. Judi is also survived by 24 loving nieces and nephews and their families, a best friend Bernadette McMahon, her special 'Daughter" Dr. Bettina Love and the rest of her Edison Tech children, all of whom will always have fond memories of their loving and special friend, "Mom" and Aunt Judi.

Per her request, Judi was accorded cremation services and in addition to her wishes, portions of her ashes were spread with love and dignity at Lake Honeyeye in the Finger Lakes of New York, on the school grounds at Edison Tech in Rochester and a portion held in reserve to be joined with her husband Bill in the family plot at Hebron Cemetery in Camp Point, IL.
