Dennis Cole Hines, 78, of Jonesville, VA, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Dennis was born on August 21, 1941 in Lee County to the late Edgar Lee Hines and Virginia Pendleton Hines.
He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Hornet from 1960-1964. He started working for the phone company in 1965 and spent the next 35 years working in telephone communications. He was a member and former deacon at Friendship Baptist Church, who was a dedicated bible reader.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Hines.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Cheek Hines; three children, Debbie Mullins, of Big Stone Gap, Sheri Burgan, of Dryden, VA, and Denise Gregory, of Jonesville; two brothers, Edgar Lee Hines, of Nashville, NC, and Harold Hines, of Jonesville; sister, Jeanette Hartley, of Morriston, FL; five granddaughters, two grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal services held for Mr. Hines.
