Joe J Whitfield Jr., 75, of West Washington Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed away on March 15, 2020, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Indiana. Joe was born July 16, 1944, in Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, to Joe J. Whitfield Sr. and Sadie Wilson who both preceded him in death; along with his sister, Cora L. Hendrix; and son, Traylor Whitfield.
Joe was educated in the South Bend Community School Corporation and afterward entered the United States Naval Service where he served and was Honorably Discharged. He was a foster grandparent for six years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Jackie Whitfield; son, Stephen Whitfield; four grandchildren; a niece, Derri Chase; nephew, Devon Clark; and great-nephews: Tobiah Esper and Malik Clark.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
