James Lee Colopy, 82, passed away Monday March 16, 2020 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Jim was born on the home farm in Danville on December 19, 1937. He was the son of Will and Gertrude Colopy. He was a full time farmer and a steward of the land. He also drove bus, and loved hauling the sports teams, for Danville Schools. He was a diehard supporter of all Danville sports, especially the 1983-86 girls’ basketball team.

He enjoyed woodworking, specializing in wooden bowls, and fishing, but seldom went. He was also a former Union Township Trustee, and a member of the St. Luke Catholic Church. Most of all though, he was a devoted husband of 61 years, father of seven children, and grandfather to 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Judith (Gardner) Colopy, his children, Fr. James Colopy, Jr., Marty (Diane) Colopy, Jennifer (Calvin) Okimura, Andrew (Kelly) Colopy, Stacy (Jim) Aman, Stephanie (George Fesler) Colopy, and Leah (Charles Morgan) Colopy, sisters, Rose Sebouhian, Elizabeth Durbin-Carpenter, and Mary Louise Kick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Steve and Delores Colopy.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the family will be observing a private Funeral Mass, and a public service will be held at a later date. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements. An obituary can be viewed online at fischerfuneralhome.com where condolences can be shared.

Memorials are suggested to the Danville Public Library, 512 S. Market St. Danville, 43014.
