Sharon Ann Dean, 70, of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away with her family by her side on March 16th, 2020 in Mangum, Oklahoma. Sharon was born on August 3rd, 1949 to Hubert and Emma Jean (Harris) Griffis in Mangum, Oklahoma. She graduated in 1967 from Mangum High School. Sharon married Lonnie Dean on August 4th, 1967. They had one son, Eugene.
She attended SWOSU at Weatherford where she studied English. She also attended Western Oklahoma State College in Altus where she studied journalism, press and photography. She received her commercial printing certificate from the Western Technology Center in Burns Flat, OK.
Sharon began her newspaper career at The Mangum Star and the Granite Enterprise. She was the editor of the Granite Enterprise before she and Shirley Buchanan started Dean's Printing and The Enterpriser in Mangum, OK in 1980. In 1996 Sharon and her husband started a monument company called the Old South.
Sharon was a member of the Granite Church of Christ. Sharon was a valuable asset to the community. Along with delivering Meals on Wheels, reading weekly at Grace Living Center to donating her time and efforts to help others.
She loved reading her bible, spending time with her family and volunteering within her community.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; Hubert and Emma Jean, grandmother; Gladys Harris; aunt; Nita Snow; mother-in-law, Cecilia Dean; grandmother; Minnie Griffis.
She is survived by; her husband of the home, Lonnie Dean; one son, Eugene Dean of Mangum, OK. 2 brothers; Warren Griffis of Jester, OK. Ted Joe Griffis and Wife, Nancy of Clarksville, TX; one sister, Shirley Norman and husband, John of Lawton, OK. Six grandchildren; Ryan Dean of Castle Rock, CO. Cole, Libby, CJ, Samantha and Whitney; sister and brother in law; Nita and Wally Edwards; aunt and uncle, Murlene and Kenneth Smith; uncle, Bailey Snow; five niece’s; JJ and husband Casey, Sara Russell, Katie Griffis, Jordan and husband Tom Hayes; Pam Edwards and husband Carl Dawson; and many very loved cousins. Special friends; Shirley Buchanan, Joyce Adkerson and Susie Ashley.
Sharon considered herself momma Sharon to many. Including but not limited to Jason, John, Dale, Chris and Duane.
