Reginald D. Ashe, age 79, died at the Douglas T. Jacobson State Veterans Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, Florida, on Monday, September 5, 2011 following an extended illness. He was born March 23, 1932, in the Town of Sheffield, Vermont, to the late Fern and Marguerite (Salmon) Ashe. He graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1950. Reginald served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed in Munich, Germany. He attained the rank of Major. On December 29, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Clifford of Lyndonville. Marilyn C. Ashe died January 22, 1993, after a courageous battle with cancer. On May 28, 1995, Reginald and Lynn Parker were united in marriage. In 1958, Reginald, Marilyn and their two boys moved to White River Junction, VT and Reg began working for Green Mountain Power as a lineman. He retired from GMP in 1995 as a Distribution Manager for the Southern Division. Reginald was a member of Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0026 and Life Member of the Hartford Elks Lodge No.1541. His interests included raising Arabian horses, hunting and fishing (with multiple fishing trips to Alaska with his dear lifelong friend Dwight Davis). Reginald is survived by his wife, Lynn, his son, Larry D. Ashe ,White River Jct., VT; his son and his wife, David B. Ashe and Gail, Lebanon, NH; two grandchildren, Tod Ashe and his wife, Heidi, Campton ,NH , Jeffery Ashe, West Lebanon, NH; two great-granddaughters, Samantha and Kaitlyn Ashe, Campton, NH; an Aunt, Elizabeth Hewitt , Glover ,VT; a cousin , Gwendolyn Maynard, Glover, VT; a sister-in-law, Corrine Larkham Ashe, Glover ,VT. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert W. Ashe. Graveside memorial services for Reginald D. Ashe will be held at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, VT.
