He graduated from Albia High School in 1951, where he played basketball and football, spent time in the U.S. Army and attended Iowa State University. In recent years, he enjoyed golfing. They owned the Sleepy Hollow Motel and The Mother's Shop in Ottumwa and Hansel & Gretel, a children's shop in Brentwood, California.
Surviving are his wife; daughters Tina Andrews, Lori Arensohn, Cindy Kastner, Karyn (Colin) Bixby; sisters Darlene Rogers, Albia, Betty Bowling, Ottumwa; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body has been cremated. Services will be for family only.
