Daughter of William and Adaline (Van Liew) Van Nordstrand. Married Thomas Lewis on April 4, 1832, in New Brunswick, NJ, and they came to Sangamon County in 1837. Mother of five children: Adaline, (m. Stephen D. Ayers) William T., Charles H., Albert, and one who died in infancy.

Died, in Kansas City, Mo., at 12:05 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, 1895, Mrs. Thomas Lewis. Mrs. Lewis was well-known in this city, where she formerly resided. The remains will arrived here this morning and will be interred at Oak Ridge cemetery. -IL State Register, Springfield, IL, 12-8-1895
