She was born in Akron, Ohio to William Schneckenburger and Barbara Stell Schneckenburger on Sunday, December 19, 1926. Gloria had three sisters and four brothers.
In 1941, she lived in Washington, DC where she met and married the late Edward A. Yates. They raised their family in Maryland. She worked many jobs and retired in 1993 as an accountant at the University of Maryland in College Park prior to moving to Florida.
Gloria loved the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member for 58 years. She was also a member of the Order of the Amaranth. Was twice Worthy Matron of Ruth Chapter #7, Hyattsville, Maryland and held several offices in Ruth Chapter #7, Fort Pierce, Florida.
Gloria liked old familiar hymns and enjoyed playing them on the piano. She was an expert seamstress, a Master Gardner in St. Lucie County, Florida and a Lakewood Park Homemakers member.
She is survived by son William (Lynda) Yates of Fort Pierce, Florida; two daughters, Barbara (Gustave Jr.) Comeyne of Port Charlotte, Florida and Katherine (Sidney) Thibodeau of Nottingham, New Hampshire; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
