Born in Miami, FL on August 19, 1953, he was the second son of Emerson and Patty Ann Gardner.
Chris served in the US Navy for four years after high school. He then studied aviation mechanics and continued in school after the Navy getting his FAA certification. He worked for Pan-Am afterwards. After his employment with Pan-Am, he decided to move his family to North Carolina and pursued farming until he retired.
Chris was preceded in death by his younger brother, Edward Thomas Gardner.
Surviving are his two sons: Jason Michael Gardner and his wife, Jacklyn Gardner, and Justin Bradley Gardner; the mother of his two sons, Meg L. Gardner; his father, Emerson B. Gardner and wife, Doris; his mother, Patty Ann Gardner; siblings, William E. Gardner and his wife, Suzanne, and Levia Anne Sucre and her husband, Brandon; several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held at 1 - 3 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home, Marshall, NC.
