Funeral services for F. G. Beam, 70-year-old retired building contractor of 339 South Cherry St., will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Catchings Chapel.

Mr. Beam had been in poor health from a heart ailment for a number of years. He died at 12:30 a.m. today after a brief stay in a McComb hospital.

In his days of greater physical activity he was an active member in East McComb Baptist Church and took a leading part in a variety of other worthy community endeavors.

He was the father of three fine McComb High football players, among other children, and was long interested in the progress of local athletics.

He was born Sept. 19, 1898, in Franklin County, but had spent most of his life as a resident of McComb.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Smith Beam; two daughters, Mrs. Will Dunaway, McComb, Mrs. John Caston, Camp LeJeune, N.C.; three sons, F. G. Beam Jr., Jackson, Bobby Beam, Angleton, Tex., and Charles Beam, Anahuac, Tex.; one brother, Charles W. Beam, Baton Rouge, La. and one sister, Mrs. Charles Breithaupt, Vicksburg; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Rev. B. T. Bishop will officiate.

Burial will be in Hollywood cemetery with Catchings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
