Dennis Dwayne Buchanan, Sr. age 63, of Anderson, Missouri, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday ~ August 4, 2007 at 2:00 a.m. at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri following a short battle with cancer.

Dennis began his journey on June 8, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas the tenth child of twelve born to the late Claude Leroy and Bertha Eva (Laughlin) Buchanan ~ He married Carol Jaquis on March 22, 1977 in Miami, Oklahoma. Together they raised their family in Towanda, Kansas where Dennis worked as a Test Mechanic for Boeing Aircraft for thirty years ~ the family celebrated his retirement in April of 2002 and moved to Anderson, Missouri later in the year. Dennis loved working with his hands and is well known for many decks and homes that he designed and built throughout his life. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren ~ cherishing his time spent with family and friends. Dennis faithfully served the Lord as a member of the Honey Lake Community Baptist Church in Noel, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Gary Jaquis in April of 2007; three brothers and two sisters.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Carol Buchanan of the home; four children ~ Madena Risenhoover of Castleberry, Florida; Roland Buchanan of El Dorado, Kansas; Robin McDaniel and husband Dale of Douglass, Kansas; Dennis Buchanan, Jr. and wife Iva of Anderson, Missouri. Daughter-in-law Cindy Jaquis of Mulvane, Kansas; two brothers ~ Raymond Buchanan and wife Helen of Rose Hill, Kansas and John Buchanan and wife Johnnie Lee of Rocky Comfort, Missouri; four sisters ~ Claudine Richardson and husband Norman of Mulvane, Kansas; Wilda Cornelison of Towanda, Kansas; Shirley Dake and husband Dennis of Wheaton, Missouri and Karen LaPlant and husband Tom of Mulvane, Kansas; ten grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; along with many relatives, friends and neighbors whom will dearly miss Dennis and his wonderful smile.

Funeral Services for Mr. Dennis D. Buchanan, Sr. will be held on Wendesday ~August 8, 2007 ~ 1:00 p.m. at the Honey Lake Community Baptist Church in Noel, Missouri. Reverend David Mullin will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Union Cemetery in Stella, Missouri.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday ~ August 7, 2007 at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
