Kenneth "Ken" William Coatney, age 66, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 3, 2007, in Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born September 12, 1940, in Eagle Rock, Missouri, the son of William and Effie (Edwards) Coatney. On November 12, 1981, he was united in marriage to Becky Hopkins, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Ken Coatney, Jr. and his wife, Misty of Elk City, Kansas and Kent Coatney and his wife, Karin of Longton, Kansas; one daughter, Kendria Schnug and her husband, Gary of Elk City, Kansas; one brother, Ted Coatney and his wife, Karla of Cassville, Missouri; four sisters, Lela Cole of Cassville, Missouri; Alma Robbins and her husband, Marlan of Exeter, Missouri, Rita Stringer and her husband, Butch of Eagle Rock, Missouri and Wilda Lee and her husband, Garry of Cassville, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kandace Hilyard, Kenneth Coatney, III, Kevin Coatney, Keith Schnug, Keri Schnug and Ronni Coatney; four step-grandchildren, Vanessa Fletcher, Alyssa Wehling, Steven Wehling and Rachelle Wehling one great granddaughter, Kaylea Hilyard; two step-great grandchildren, Hanna Fletcher and Wyatt Raynor and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Rudolph and Norma Jean Harris, who adopted Ken by heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ova Hilburn, Vada Coatney and Viola Coatney and one brother, Dennis Coatney.
Ken received his education in Cassville and then served in the United States Navy. For nine years he was employed for Cessna in Wichita, Kansas. Most of his life was spent in car sales, retiring as sales manager after thirty-five years in that business. He had been nationally recognized as sales person by G.M., Ford and Chrysler. He was a member of Roaring River Baptist Church and the bowling league. He loved coon hunting and fishing.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 7, 2007, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Reverend Jerry Yarnall and Reverend Paul Yarnall will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
