In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; Billy Wayne Witherspoon and Vernon Witherspoon; one sister Georgia Jean Witherspoon and nephew, Trey Witherspoon.
Mrs. Witherspoon was retired from Bernhardt Furniture in Lenoir, was a faithful and devoted member of Unity of Faith Church of God where she served as a Deaconess, Choir Director and loved praising the Lord in song and praise.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening, and visiting the sick. She was a true inspiration to the elderly and young people.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 49 years of the home, Arthur Dixon Jr.; one daughter, Kim Dixon Hammond and husband Jason of Atlanta, GA; one son, McKinley Dixon of Lenoir; two grandchildren, Isaac Dixon and John-John Hammond; three sisters, Evangelist Betty Witherspoon Lipford and husband Rev. Billy Joe Lipford, Evangelist Avalee Witherspoon Carlton and husband Rev. Ervin Carlton and Sharon Witherspoon McKinney and husband Bobby McKinney; two brothers, Paul Witherspoon and wife Judy Hood Witherspoon and Virgil Witherspoon and wife Teresa Wells Witherspoon; one uncle, James “Duck” Witherspoon and wife Evangelist Carolyn Corpening Witherspoon; one aunt, Virginia Witherspoon Gerald; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a special sister-in-law, Teresa Dixon Johnson, The Dixon in-laws, friends and her Unity of Faith Church family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 2:00PM at The Life Center Mennonite Brethren Church, 1881 Valway Road, NW, Lenoir, NC-28645 with Reverend Robert Hayes officiating and Reverend Eddie Johnson III giving the eulogy. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00Pm prior to the service and other times at the home. Burial will follow the service at Dulatown Cemtery.
