Ft. Meade, Md. - Spec. 4 Philip E. Crisp of Lorain died here Saturday of natural causes listed by Army personnel as pulmonary edema, a fluid accummulation in the lungs.
Crisp, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alphonce Crisp, was found ill in his base barracks at 12:20 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to the base hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:20 p.m.
He was a member of the Howitzer Battery of the 6th Cavalry.
Spec, 4 Crisp was born in Lorain and attended Admiral King High School.
He enlisted in the Army in June, 1969. He received basic training at Ft. Campbell, KY., and advanced training at Ft. Bliss, TX., and Herminie, Pa.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonce Crisp; a brother, Gary and two sisters, Yolanda and Janet, all at home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Crisp, Lorain.
Friends may call at the Brown Funeral Home, Lorain, tomorrow and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. LaFurd Young and the Rev. Charles Springer officiating.
An Army unit will conduct military rites. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
