78, passed away very peacefully July 24, 2007 surrounded by her loving
husband and six devoted children. Dawn was born in Richfield, Utah to James and Amanda Peterson on November 13, 1928 and was raised in Boulder, Utah. She married her high school sweetheart, William Riggs Griffin
(Bill) on December 12, 1947 in the Manti Temple.
Mom was a life-long faithful latter-day saint and knew the true meaning of serving and giving to others, serving in every auxiliary in the church,
but mostly enjoyed sitting at the organ or leading a choir. People described Mom as "good to the core." She never had an unkind word to say about anyone and was adored by all who knew her.
Mom and Dad were 5 months shy of celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. She and Dad enjoyed each other so much. Most recently in St. George, they've enjoyed so many wonderful friends and neighbors with whom to play golf, travel, play cards and laugh.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, her children Nicki (Evan) Excell of South Jordan, UT, Boyd (Trudi) Griffin of Cleveland, UT, Randy (Lesa) Griffin of St. George, UT, Patrice (Steve) Eyre of Albany, NY, Bryan (Sue)Griffin of Richfield, UT, and Jeanette (Doug) Braithwaite of Sunset, UT, 27 grandchildren, and 29 great grand children
Mom was preceded in death by both her parents and Dad's parents, Ray and Nora Griffin, an infant grandson, William Griffin, and all nine of her Peterson siblings, Lora, Ruby, Reva, Rulon, Evan, Emeron, Verl, Lars and
Geneal. What a grand reunion for their family to be together again.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 11:00 at the
Morningside Ward Chapel, St. George, Utah,
Burial will be held on Monday at 5:00 p.m. in the Escalante Cemetery.
