Ruby Nell Murphy, 96, went to be with Jesus Thursday, March 12, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Monroe, LA. Rev. David McGuffee will officiate. Interment will follow at Cypress Baptist Cemetery in Luna, LA. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the church.
Mrs. Murphy was born May 12, 1923, on a farm in Shady Grove, Florida. She was married to Ezra Murphy and the couple made their home in Monroe from which he pastored 6 Baptist churches before his death in 2005. As a homemaker, Mrs. Murphy took pride in making sure her husband, Ezra, and sons, Donald and Eddie were dressed their best for work and school. She passed this on to her grandson, Paul, during the years she took care of him. Mrs. Murphy was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Monroe.
She is survived by her two sons, Donald Ezra Murphy and wife Wanda and Samuel Eddie Murphy and wife Sherry; grandchildren Donald Murphy, Jr. and wife Carolyn, Sandy Humber and husband Ed, Paul Murphy and wife Melissa, Suzonne Odom, Jamie Bolen, Dawn Harper, and Matt Murphy; great-grandchildren, Wade Murphy and wife Bridgett, Brock Murphy and wife Ashton, Nicholas Humber, Lauren Humber, Taylor Humber, Tristen Humber, Casey Odom, and Amelia Sims; great-great grandchildren, Amaya Humber, Jacob Murphy and Elizabeth Murphy.
