On Saturday, March 7, 2020, Linda “Joy” Durham (Pier) passed away at home surrounded by her family. Joy was born to parents Wilbur “Webb” and Barbara Pier in Peru, Indiana on March 15, 1954.

Joy loved life and lived each one of her almost 66 years to the fullest. In spite of once having a coffee date with Joe Montana, she would still begrudgingly say that her proudest accomplishment was raising her 3 sons and was evident to all that knew her that her best friends were her 7 grandchildren.
Her heart was generous to a fault and she was always the first to jump in and help regardless of the need. She shared her life lessons and wore her scars like a badge of honor. She was one of the most devious and funny people most have had the privilege of knowing, always looking for the next opportunity to play a prank or scare someone. Although Joy only gave birth to 3 children she was “mom” to everyone who walked through her door- which she made a strong point of making sure everyone knew was always open!
She enjoyed cooking, loved to shop, and had been known to disappear for hours looking for the next bargain!! She loved fishing, mushroom hunting, camping and going out on the boat down at Lake Monroe with her family.

She is predeceased by her parents Webb and Barb Pier.

She is survived by her 3 sons and daughters-in-law; Shane and Ashlie Durocher of Indianapolis, IN, Tycen and Kori Durham of Indianapolis, IN, and Dustin and Emily Durham of Coventry, CT. Her chosen daughter and son-in-law; Desiree and James Board of Indianapolis, IN. Her 7 grandchildren; Owen Durocher, Isaiah Wilson, Olivia Durocher, Ava Durham, Emma Durham, Katherine Durham and Sydney Joy Durham. Her brother David Pier and his wife Mel of Sterling, Colorado and niece and nephew Kaylee and Avery Pier.

Joy’s family would like to personally thank Dr. Marc Gerdisch and his incredible team for all of the extra time we were given with Joy as a direct result of their continued dedication to her care, love and support.

Per Joy’s request a small graveside service will take place at the Salem Cemetery in Peru, IN (Corner of 500S & Strawtown Pike (50 E)) at 10:00am on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Her family will then host a celebration of life party back in Indianapolis at 4:00pm at 1899 (venue); 164 Steeples Blvd., Indianapolis, IN 46222. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joy’s love for life.
