Virginia Florence Oelkers, 79, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems, St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester.
Virginia Anding was born to Moritz and Dorothy (Rosch) Anding in Rochester. In her childhood, she lived and schooled in the Hyde Park Township, attended the Hyde Park country school, and then attended Zumbro Falls School. She graduated from Wabasha High School in 1957 and went to work at Methodist Worrall Hospital.
Ginny married Darrell Oelkers Dec. 5, 1959 at Lincoln Trinity Church. They lived in Zumbro Falls, Minneapolis, Byron and then returning back to Zumbro Falls in 1978. She was a very active person. For example, Ginny was a cubscout leader for 3 years, a Past Zumbro Falls Lioness Charter Member, was instrumental in writing the Zumbro Falls History Book, took great interest in family history and ancestry and worked many years as an auction clerk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Daniel, granddaughter, Demitria, brother, Moritz “Butch” and sister in Law, Joan Anding.
Friends and family may visit from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, or for one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
