Alphonce Crisp was born in Shelby, MS and lived in Lorain most of his life.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Crisp retired from the Lorain Branch of the U.S. Postal Service after 36 years, where he was a postal clerk.

He was a lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher, youth fellowship coordinator, trustee, usher and senior choir member. He was an avid bowler and golfer.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Doris Crisp (nee Phillips) of Lorain; daughters Yolanda M. Crisp of Cleveland and Janet R. Smith (nee Crisp) of Atlanta; son Gary Crisp of Lorain; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother Willie J. of Lorain; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ollie Crisp; son Philip E. Crisp; and brother, Warren Crisp.

Services will be Tuesday at noon at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kevin Coleman, pastor, officiating.

Full military honors will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
