Samuel Lee Morgan died Monday, January 28, 1963 at the age of 90, in the Wagoner Community Hospital following a stroke.
Born May 27, 1872 in Travis County, Texas, he came to Muskogee County, Oklahoma (Indian Territory) in 1901 and in 1928 moved to Wagoner County, Oklahoma. He was a retired farmer and oil field worker and a member of the Mayes County, Oklahoma Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Bessie Lee (Williams) Morgan of the home; five sons, William Morgan of El Monte, California, Melvin Morgan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Thomas Carl Morgan of the home, Charley Morgan of Oilton, Oklahoma and Harley Morgan of Mendota, California; a step-son, Calvin Ballinger of Delhart, Texas; nine daughters, Mrs. Opal Etna Hammons of Hominy, Oklahoma, Mrs. Lovell Imgram of Mendota, California, Mrs. Syble Fleetwood of Beggs, Oklahoma, Mrs. Pearl D. Barmby of Sacramento, California, Mrs. Janetta Teeters of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Mrs. Marjorie Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mrs. Grace Mendenhall of Sacramento, California, Mrs. Emma Ballinger of Doss Palace, California and Mrs. Rachel Mosby of Mendota, California; 63 grandchildren, 112 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of the Hersman Funeral Home of Wagoner.
