Inscription is in German.
This records that he was born in Graz (Austria).
It is believed the inscription translates as 'Deeply mourned by all who loved you. Rest softly/gently in foreign soil.'

It has been suggested that the word 'Zeug' at the top of the memorial could be a misspelling of the German word 'Zeuge' meaning witness. Therefore, the suggestion is that the translation could be 'Witness, for here lies ..'
Another suggestion is that this could be a nickname or possibly that something had been misheard or mistranscribed.

It is also noted that 'Ruhe sanft' is a German equivalent of the English 'R.I.P'. This sounds quite plausible for an RC memorial.

There is a recording elsewhere which suggests he died in the 'infirmary'.

If anyone knows more information about this person please message and I will add to the memorial. Thank you.
