Thomas Edward Newton 78 of Onondaga Hill slipped peacefully away from this earth on March 10, 2020 surrounded by his family. Tom worked for Fruehauf Trailers in Syracuse for 24 years until its closing and ultimately retired from Millis Transfer 2006. Tom was an incredibly talented welder and fabricator was always working and creating something in his shop at home. In his younger years he enjoyed stock car racing where he raced with his team comprised of his brother and friends. He enjoyed farming at his family home. Tom had a love of the outdoors and often enjoyed camping at Kring point on the St. Lawrence. He was also involved in scouting for 25 years and retired as the troop committee chair in 2005 from Troop 220 formerly of Taunton N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents John (Jack) & Hilda Manning Newton; siblings, Jeanette, Jack, Patsy, Robert, and grandson, Brendon. Tom is survived by his wife Lorraine Congdon Newton of 51 years, his sister Hilda, his children Tim (Tara) Dan (Donna) Ed (Cindy) Mike (Carrie) and Tom (Kristen); grandchildren Bryan (Kayla), Greg (Haley), Kyle, Seth, Gabe, Derek, Genevieve, Katie, Travis and great granddaughter, Amelia. Friends may call Sunday March 15 from 3 to 6pm at the Butler-Badman Funeral Home, Inc., 4504 W. Seneca Tpk. Services 9:15am Monday at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at The Church of St. Michael & St. Peter. Interment Onondaga Valley Cemetery. The family would like to thank Iroquois nursing home staff of the first and second floor for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Parkinson's Association, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
