Linden— Portia Ann Hayes Washington was born April 7, 1960 to George and Pearl Anna Hayes in Mount Airy, Louisiana. She had five brothers—Eddie Hayes, Keith Hayes, Bryant Hayes, George Hayes Jr., and Eric Hayes.
Portia was raised and schooled in Mount Airy LA and graduated from East St. John High School. She attended college and received an Associates Degree from Delgado Community College.
Portia married Earnest Joseph Jr. and to that union were born Stephen and Keith Joseph. Ernest passed away in 1985.
In 1990, Portia moved to Fayetteville NC. She met and married Ira Washington in November 1999. To this union were added Portia Nicole, Cherish Tiara and Iris Deshane Washington; LaToya Floyd, Lashanna Wiggs, Teresa Baldwin and Reggie McNeil.
Portia departed this life to live eternally with her Savior on Monday, March 9, 2020.
Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Pearl Anna Hayes; brothers, Keith,
Bryant and George Hayes, Jr.
Left to treasure her memories are her husband of 20 years, Ira Washington; children: Stephen & Keith Joseph; Iris Deshane Washington,. Portia Nicole Washington, Cherish Tiara Washington; La Toya Floyd, Lashanna Wiggs, Teresa Baldwin and Reggie McNeil; 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.

Burial: Maranattha Gardens, Fairmont.
