Floyd W. White, 84, of Ashdown, AR, died Tuesday, March 10, 2020, in Ashdown. He was born on February 11, 1936, in Deweyville, TX.

He was an engineer at Nekoosa Edwards Paper Mill before transitioning into communications and bringing cable television to Little River County. He founded Ashdown Cable Company and KARQ radio station keeping southwest Arkansas on the forefront of media trends. For fifty years he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ashdown. Throughout the years he served on the Ashdown School Board, Cossatot Technical College Board of Directors, and served as President of the Arkansas Cable Television Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Murphy White. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Bettie White of Ashdown, AR; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Kenny Grounds of Ashdown, AR, Tammy and Clint Turnipseed of Edmond, OK, Natalie and Steve Swilley of Davidson, NC, Pam and Johnny Swilley of Paris, TX; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Ashdown with Jim Cross officiating. Burial will be in the Ashdown Cemetery
