Bettie M. Jones age 97, of Portland passed away Monday morning March 9, 2020 in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare in Portland. She was born in Jay County on August 8, 1922 the daughter of James and Nellie (Bricker) Nelson. She was married June 9, 1945 to Arvin E. Jones and he died on September 9, 2010. Bettie was a Business Office Supervisor with United Telephone Company retiring in 1978 after thirty eight years. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and 1940 Portland High School graduate.

Surviving are a daughter in law Theresa Jones of Portland and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Arvin and son Gary Jones.

Funeral services will be Saturday March 14, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Adair presiding. Burial will be in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.
