Born: Fri., Mar. 23, 1923
Died: Sun., Mar. 8, 2020 Pauline Estes, 97 of Rosspoint was born on March 3, 1923 and entered Heaven on March 8, 2020. She was an educator with the Harlan County Public Schools formerly teaching at Hall Elementary, Wallins Elementary and Rosspoint Elementary Schools. She was a member of the Rosspoint Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Minnie Holmes Baker; her husband, Alonzo Estes; her brother, Orbie Baker; her sisters, Lois Rich, Zora Daughtery and Gladys Baker. Her son, Bill Estes; her daughter, Shirley Bibb. Her sons-n-law, George Bibb and Jack Bishop; her grandsons, Allen Cooper and Jeffery Dixon.

She is survived by her children, Eulala and husband, Jerry Milby, Rita Bishop, Karen and husband, Larry Mosley, Randall and wife, Elizabeth Estes and Richard and wife, Teresa Estes and her brother Homer Baker. Fourteen grandchildren, Twenty-three great-grandchildren and twelve Great-great-grandchildren.

Our mother was a remarkable person. She was reared by a father who did not think a woman should be educated. Therefore, she went only to the eighth grade. After marrying our Daddy and having seven children and after her twins started the first grade, she went to Loyall High School and graduated in two years. She then went on to Southeast Community College for two years and then went to Cumberland College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in education. She loved her job teaching and loved all her students. Mom’s hobby was quilting, and she was very proficient at her skill. On the top of her casket is one of the quilts she made.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 10:30AM in the chapel of Henson & Rich Funeral Home with Bill Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Howard Cemetery at Rosspoint. Pallbearers will be Richard Estes, Randall Estes, Brandon Estes, Britt Estes, Jerry Milby, Bryan Dixon, Tony Colvin, Kenny Campbell.
