US Congressman. A member of the Republican Party, he served Missouri's 2nd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives from 1987 until 1991. He received his degree in Political Science from Benedictine College and later earned his degree in law from St. Louis University School of Law. Following graduation, he commenced practicing in the St. Louis area. He entered the political arena when he was elected to and served in the Missouri State Senate from 1973 until 1983. He succeeded Robert A. Young in the United States House of Representative and during his tenure, he served on the Budget Committee and the Committee on Science, Space and Technology. He lost his bid for reelection to Joan Kelly Horn. After leaving Washington, he served as president on the International Republican Institute.
