MILLER, Sidney V., 83, Davidsville, died March 9, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center. Born January 22, 1937 in Johnstown, son of Robert and Ethel Miller. Preceded in death by parents and brother Rodney Miller. Survived by wife, the former Joy Kelly, whom he married on November 27, 1985. Also survived by daughters, Kellie Kemp, North Huntingdon and Erin married to Dr. Tim Sherwood, Spotsylvania, VA.; grandchildren, Tyler and Zachary Hall, Mackenzie Kemp of North Huntingdon, Jack, Alec, Nathan and Drew Sherwood, Spotsylvania; sisters Rhea Mozi and Heidi Miller of Johnstown. Sid loved spending time with his grandchildren, being active with them and watching them grow. Graduate of Greater Johnstown High School - Class of 1955. Attended classes at University of Pittsburgh, Johnstown Campus and Cambria Rowe Business College. Member of United Churches of Schellsburg and currently Emmanuel Church in Johnstown. Past member of Johnstown Jaycees, Rotary and Elks Club. Member of the PA National Guard for six years, which included six months of U.S. Army Basic Training. Previously employed by UNISYS Business Machines (formerly Burroughs Corp) for 15 years. Retired from LeFebure Bank Security Equipment Company after 25 years where he was Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. Served on the Board of Directors for the following groups: Salvation Army (Johnstown and Somerset), Childrens Aid Home (Somerset); Bedford County Humane Society. He also served on the Jennerstown Borough Council and Jennerstown Water Authority. Sid was one of the founding members of the Laurel Highlands Magic Club performing for church and childrens' groups as a volunteer magician. He enjoyed performing magic tricks and spending time with the neighborhood children. He loved the outdoors- hiking with his dogs, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. He biked the Allegheny Passage Trail from Pittsburgh to Cumberland, MD. Sid had a great love for animals and was not only involved with the Bedford County Humane Society, but also assisted many weekends transporting rescue dogs from kill shelters to adoptive families. He and his wife, Joy, adopted many dogs from shelters. He will be forever missed and loved by his two daughters- Kellie and Erin. Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Henderson Funeral Home- East Hills, 2503 Bedford Street. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 am at Emmauel Church, Pastor Kirk Rowland. Entombment Richland Cemetery. Sid requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Bedford County Humane Society, 182 Bohn Road, Bedford PA 15522.
