Hazel Marguree Williamson was born on July 29, 1931, to Calvin and Gennie Burns (nee Carson) in Eastman, Georgia. To this union were born one son, Calvin Burns and five daughters; Dorothy Miller, Gertrude Williamson, Theresa Knight, and Geraldine Ricks, whom all preceded her in death.
Hazel met and married Mr. Arthur Lee Williamson, to that union there were no children.
Hazel and her sister Gertrude married brothers Arthur and EJ Williamson.
Although Hazel had no children of her own, she loved children. This was shown in the way she treated all of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Hazel attended Lisbon High School in Eastman, Georgia received her diploma on May 19, 1950.
Aunt Hazel loved to travel in her younger years and indulged in the finer things in life. Amoung other things, Hazel expressed a great fondness for singing. She also enjoyed calling and keeping up with all her friends in Georgia where she grew up.
Hazel worked at St Mary’s Hospital, later renamed Mercy Mt Airy Hospital by the time she retired. She worked there for over 30 years as a Surgical Technician Aid. She was widely recognized throughout her years of services by the President/CEO of Administration.
She leaves to mourn her death a host of nieces, nephew, great-nieces and nephews located in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Illinois, California, Texas, and Massachusetts. She is also survived by one cousin Hazel Carson of Cincinnati, Ohio
Aunt Hazel will be greatly missed by all those she touched with her generosity, love, and kind words. All of the family has expressed the same sentiments- Aunt Hazel was one of the sweetness aunts one could ever have. We all love her and will miss her very much.
The Family of Hazel M. Williamson would like to thank everyone for their expressions of sympathy, prayers, flowers, and thoughts of us during this time of bereavement. We sincerely appreciate all of your acts of kindness.
Eccl 7:1 “A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death is better than the day of birth.”
