Stephen Allen Wright, of Indianapolis, passed away March 5, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, daughter and son-in-law. He had just turned 17 this leap year.

Stephen was also known as GI, The Mighty Pappy, The Most Fabulous, Wonderful Father & The Mayor of Saint Clair. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and his grandchildren were the center of his world. Stephen proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps at the New River Air Wing in North Carolina. He worked at International Harvester/Navistar until his retirement in 2003. Stephen was the life of the party wherever he went, had a vibrant personality, and was liked by everyone. He had a strong work ethic and morals, always working on something or helping others. Aside from his family, Stephen loved walking his dog Rocky to the park and taking him places. Rocky preceded him in death two months prior.

You could always find Stephen outdoors tending to his beautiful Koi fish pond that he built, as well as his lovely yard; or feeding the birds and squirrels. He loved his cars and auto racing was one of his all time favorite hobbies.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 East Washington Street with visitation there from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Diann (Lynn) Wright; daughter, Stephanie L. Wright (husband, Christopher Oconitrillo); grandchildren, Morgan, Madelyn and Makynna; and brother, Francis “Butters” New.

The family would like to thank all for their prayers, outpouring of love and support during this sudden and most difficult time.
