Ethel Darlene Cooper was born on July 19, 1948 in Newport Arkansas. She passed away at her home in Hinton Ok on March 5, 2020 at the age of 71.

She attended Arroyo Grande public school in Arroyo Grande, California. Ethel was married to Leslie (Les) Cooper on December 12, 1964 in Atascadero, Ca. They began to raise their children in Arroyo Grande, CA surrounded by family on the Mesa until 1977.

They moved to Hinton, Ok in 1977. Ethel was a cook for the Hinton senior citizens home for several years. She had a passion for the elderly and provided care and assistance to several residents in their homes. She was also a cook at the Lookeba-Sickles elementary, and often you heard her brag on the students and knew she enjoyed her job there. After retiring, she spent most of her time taking care of her mother and father and long-time friend Ruby Pack. She was a true caregiver at heart.

Ethel enjoyed bowling in her younger years. Her and Les were on a league and made many friends during that time. They were very involved in sports and attended countless ballgames of her sons, husband’s softball team, then her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.

She was very involved in anything to do with her family. She loved to garden and can her own pickles, salsa, jelly, and anything she could preserve. She took pride in them and shared them with her friends and family any time you came by. Her love for garage sales was evident in her home with antiques and knick-knacks. She was always buying and thinking of her kids and grandkids, never putting herself above them.

Ethel loved to travel and spend time with family in AR and CA whenever they could, stopping at many different casinos along the way. She has made many friends throughout her life. You never had to wonder what she was thinking, but she would never hesitate to go above and beyond to help anyone in need with a compassionate and giving heart.

She is survived by her husband Les of the home. Her children David Cooper and wife Laura of CA, Leslie Ann and her husband Calvin of Hinton OK, Doug and his wife Mary of Hinton OK, Chad and his wife Kelly of Binger, OK. Their grandchildren: Danny, Kayla, Nathan, Lane, Conner and Karleigh and Courtney. Her great grandchildren: Abigail, Drey, Ellie, Emery, and Eden. Her brothers Roland and Ray Johns along with several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and special friends Vanessa, Don, and Haylee.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert William Johns and her mother Mildred Faye Johns, her brother Jack Johns, and sister Anne Pebworth.
