~Happy Birthday Little Prince~

On a trivial, ordinary day in May
As the breeze travelled from east to west
Somewhere in the Midwest
Under the rainbow, decades ago
A little Prince was born
Thousand miles from me.
__
If for me, and no one else
The day you were born
Would later become
A life changing event
It would be when we met
And you taught me the things
You painfully learned
From bad experiences
And mistakes you made
And the lifestyle choices
You were soon to regret.
___
You had the power
To change my fate
And get through me
Like no one else
A simple smile
An innocent touch
Was all you did
To earn my love.
___
We were two strangers
Born a decade apart
From opposite Worlds
Nothing in common we had
Not Language or culture
Social status and health
We still loved each other
And confronted the World
We protected each other
Until the day you left.
__
You had the power
To read right through me
And unlock my defenses
You had the key…
The walls I erected
Decades ago
Came crumbling down
With your simple word.
__
Goodbye loneliness
Goodbye sadness
Goodbye despair
I have nothing to fear
You reside in my heart
And live in me always
My temple keeps you warm
My love will show you the way
You will soon realize
That for as long as I live
You will keep on living
Right here with me.
__
You are with me
Everywhere I go
You perceive through my senses
You will go on and on.
As I celebrate the day
You came into this world
I remind the World
That a little Prince was born
Somewhere in the Midwest
Under a rainbow, decades ago
And little did I know
That he will later be
The center of my life
The outset of my faith
And the everlasting Hero
Of my ever ending story.
