Gerald Wayne Russell, son of the late Leonard Paul Russell and Fannie Mae (Shelton) Russell was born November 17, 1936 in Smithville, Ark., and departed this life on March 6, 2020 at Riverways Manor Nursing Home in Van Buren, Mo. He had attained the age of eighty-three years, three months and nineteen days.

Gerald had resided in Van Buren since 1976 and was formerly of Saint Louis, Mo. He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the Eastwood Community Church. He was very active in the church, where he served as a song leader, teacher and Sunday school superintendent. He was also active in the Eastwood Community, serving on the Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and building model trains. He was a big Saint Louis Cardinals fan. Gerald was a family man who loved his children, he was proud of all three of his kids and how much they have accomplished in their lives.

On February 14, 1981, Gerald was united in marriage to Nancy Lee Epperson in Eastwood, Mo., she preceded him in death on August 19, 2018.

He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Foerster and husband Don; his two sons, David Wayne Russell and wife Sheila all of Eastwood, Mo., and Gerald Dewayne Russell and wife Kim of Cape Girardeau, Mo; three stepchildren, Douglas Epperson of Doniphan, Mo., David Epperson of Springfield, Mo., and Elaine Chandler of Houston, Tx; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and many relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. in the Eastwood Cemetery in Eastwood Mo. Rev. Bill Orr will be Officiating.
