Marilyn was born on August 27, 1937 in Burbank, Calif. to Louis and Marian (Thompson) Babotan.
Marilyn was a graduate of Yucaipa High School and earned a degree from San Bernadino State College. She married Ben Dixon on August 18, 1956. They moved from California to Vinita in 1972 and Marilyn began what would become a lifelong profession of teaching in Ketchum, Okla. Marilyn had a passion for teaching and she taught grade school in Ketchum for 26 years before retiring.
Marilyn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vinita. She enjoyed collecting jewelry and was an avid seamstress, making all her childrens clothing. She learned how to sew from her parents, who made clothing for Hollywood stars of the time, including Roy Rogers.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Charlotte.
Survivors are her husband Estel Benjamin Dixon of the home; three sons, John Dixon and his wife Shelia of Stillwater, Benjamin Dixon of Vinita, and Steven Dixon of Vinita; granddaughters, Lauren Dixon and Samantha Dixon; and niece Connie (daughter of sister Charlotte).
Visitation will be Thursday, April 6 from 5 to 7 pm at the Burckhalter Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 7 at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church, with Pastor Skip McClain officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
