He was born the son of Harry and Margaret (Reil) Baker.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Baker; eight children, Roger (Penny) Baker, Kenny (Bilania) Baker, William (Rebecca) Baker, Ronnie (Tracey) Baker, Stephen (Michele) Baker, Jeffry (Sarah Dupee) Owens, Tammy (Gary) LaMarche, and Tina (Thomas) Ales; seven siblings, Don (Betty) Baker, Shirley (Joe) Ellsworth, Jerry (Debbie) Austin, Laura Baker Decker, Robert Baker, Wayne Baker, and Rachael Baker; 29 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren.
