Billy Ray Hoover, former Chandler, Oklahoma resident was born May 22, 1941 in Stroud, Oklahoma. He departed this life on March 6, 2020 at his home in Oklahoma City at the age of 78 years. Bill was the son of Orval and Madge Kathleen Bland Hoover.

He was raised in Stroud, Oklahoma. After graduating high school, he attended Central State University where he met Marilyn Ann Nondorf, the woman who he would marry.

Bill started his career in teaching and coaching, having worked in Cabool, Missouri, Guymon and Chickasha, and was a former high school principal in Chandler. He later worked in the oil and gas business for many years.

Bill was a member of the Epiphany of The Lord Catholic Church in Oklahoma City, Knights of Columbus, Epiphany Alpha Group and volunteered at Mercy Hospital and Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Bill loved all sports, especially anything Oklahoma State Cowboys, also fishing with his children and grandchildren, he was always after big one. Bill was known as Turnpike Bill on the Sports Animal. He would call in on his way home at night and get everyone going.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marilyn, and one son, Craig Lee Hoover.

Survivors include son, Greg Hoover and Pam of Bristow, son, Michael Hoover and Cindy of Luther, daughter, Amanda Cromwell of Oklahoma City, ten grandchildren, Christopher Hoover, Nathaniel Hoover, Bonnie Hoover, Autumn Hoover, Sarah Hoover, Rachael Hoover, Michael Hoover Jr., Beth Hoover, James Cromwell and Ella Cromwell, six great-grandchildren, Halley, Jackson, Maverick, Marjorie, Margeaux and Arriah, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler, with Bills family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chandler with Father Anthony Ram officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Stroud Cemetery in Stroud, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hearts of Angels Fund at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Please mail checks to Oklahoma Heart Hospital, Attn: Kevin Kadavy, 7800 NW 85th Terrace, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73132. Please make checks payable to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital with Hearts of Angels Fund in the memo line.
