Delores Ann “Laurie” Hill, 95, of Owatonna, died Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Homestead Hospice House.

She was born March 8, 1924 in Waseca the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Yess) Sotebeer. She was the youngest of eight children. Delores grew up on a farm and went to school in Waseca. It was on the farm that she learned her love of animals raising several dogs, sheep, chickens and rescuing any and all animals. During World War II she went to work for Birds Eye Foods of Waseca. She had a passion for roller skating and fishing with family and friends. Delores married Harold Hill on May 21, 1949 in Waseca. Together they made their home in Owatonna and had one daughter, Ann. The couple enjoyed square dancing and traveling. Delores was active in her church, PTA, girl scouts and was a charter member of the Women's Club of Owatonna as well as being a member of the Eagle's Club. In 1970 she lost her husband, Harold. After his death she worked for Kummeth Manufacturing and later Jostens. She retired early in 1982 to provide daycare for her grandchildren whom she adored.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann (and Bob) Hansen of Owatonna; granddaughter, Carrie (and Andy) Gillund of Minneapolis; grandson, David Hansen of Hopkins and several nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, three sisters and six nephews.

We say goodbye to her today. Safe crossings Mom and Grandma.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 9, 2020 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home with Deacon Kris Oppegard officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to any Humane Society for homeless pets, Homestead Hospice House, Owatonna or Peace and Power TV broadcast of First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea which she watched faithfully in her later years.
